Effects of Public Green Space on Acute Psychophysiological Stress Response: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Evidence

Laerke Mygind et al.

Summary: Studies suggest that activities such as seated relaxation and walking in natural environments can enhance heart rate variability. However, there are inconsistent results regarding cortisol concentration measures. The empirical support for the acute stress-reducing effects of immersion in natural environments is limited due to small sample sizes and methodological weaknesses in the studies.
