Several picolyl and benzyl linked biphenyl nickel NHC complexes were synthesized and characterized, and then utilized as catalysts in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction to achieve moderate to good yields of various biphenyls.
Picolyl and benzyl linked biphenyl nickel NHC complexes [(NiLBr2)-Br-1] (1), [NiL2]Br-2 (2) [NiL3]Br-2 (3) and [NiL3(N-3)(2)] (4) were synthesized and characterized by CHN, ESI-MS, H-1, C-13 NMR and single crystal XRD. All complexes adopted distorted square planar structure. They were employed as catalysts in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction to afford different biphenyls in good to moderate yields.
