Through investigating the effect of carbonyl iron powder (CIP) content on FeSiCr amorphous SMCs, it was found that with the increase of CIP content, the relative density and magnetic permeability were significantly improved, but the growth rate of density gradually decreased and could be divided into three grades. At 30 wt.% CIP content, the magnetic loss of FeSiCr SMC treated at 500 degrees Celsius was the smallest.
FeSiCr mixed soft magnetic composites (SMCs) were prepared by adding different content of carbonyl iron powder (CIP) with average particle size of 4.75 mu m to amorphous FeSiCr powder with that of 16.7 mu m. The effects of the additional amount of CIP on the microstructure, densities and magnetic properties of FeSiCr amorphous SMCs were investigated. When the content of CIP was increased from 0 wt.% to 50 wt.%, the relative density increased from 75.9% to 84.9%, and the magnetic permeability of sample heat treated at 500 degrees C increased from 19.1 to 36.8 and increased by 92.7%. With the increase of the amount of CIP, the increase rate of density for SMCs gradually decrease, and can be divided into three distinct grades. When the content of CIP is 30 wt.%, the magnetic loss of FeSiCr SMC treated at 500 degrees C is the smallest (342.91 mW/cm(3)@1000 kHz, 20 mT).
