Systematic literature review of burden of illness in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP)

Luis Querol et al.

Summary: CIDP is a rare neurological disorder characterized by muscle weakness and impaired sensory function. Patients with CIDP experience high physical and psychosocial burden, including physical function impairment, pain, and depression. Treatment of CIDP can be burdensome, with direct costs driven by treatment and hospitalization, as well as indirect costs associated with impaired productivity.

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy: can a diagnosis be made in patients not fulfilling electrodiagnostic criteria?

G. Liberatore et al.

Summary: The study found that in patients with clinical CIDP diagnosis but not meeting EFNS/PNS criteria, multiple abnormal supportive criteria helped to support the diagnosis of CIDP. Increased cerebrospinal fluid proteins and response to immune therapy were the main factors aiding in the diagnosis of CIDP.

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy-Diagnostic pitfalls and treatment approach

Amro M. Stino et al.

Summary: CIDP is a chronic disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness and sensory loss, diagnosis relies on clinical suspicion, clinical findings, and EDx testing. Treatment options include IVIg, CCS, and PE, with the need for adjustment based on clinical presentation and treatment response.

Underdiagnosis and diagnostic delay in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy

Umair J. Chaudhary et al.

Summary: Underdiagnosis of CIDP is common and can result in significant delays in diagnosis and treatment initiation. Lack of comprehensive attention to typical electroclinical features of CIDP and its diagnostic criteria at the time of initial evaluation contributes to underdiagnoses.
