Recovery of iodide as triiodide from thin-film transistor liquid crystal display wastewater by forward osmosis

Summary: The study demonstrated the recovery of iodide in the form of triiodide for the thin-film transistor liquid crystal display industries using forward osmosis. By preoxidizing iodide to triiodide, iodide was successfully recovered. EDTA-2Na was used as the draw solute for its low reverse salt flux and membrane distillation was shown to achieve over 99% recovery for the draw solutes with simultaneous recovery of water.
