Non-inverted U-shaped challenges to regional sustainability: The health risk of soil heavy metals in coastal China

Xiangbo Xu et al.

Summary: The study found that Cd was the dominant soil heavy metal in China's coastal development areas, and there were positive synergistic relationships among the different heavy metals. Although the health risks induced by soil heavy metals were low, they continued to increase with growth in the secondary industry.

Decoupling water environment pressures from economic growth in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, China

Yuying Zhang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the decoupling performance and driving factors of economic output and water environment pressure in provinces and cities of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2004 to 2018. The overall trend showed positive decoupling, but the upper reaches of the Yangtze River demonstrated unstable decoupling and tended to deteriorate.
