Use of kinetic data to model potential antioxidant activity: Radical scavenging capacity of Australian Eucalyptus honeys

Soheila Beiranvand et al.

Summary: Honeys have beneficial antioxidant activity in wound healing processes by protecting cells against lipid oxidation, and kinetic data collection allows determination of their radical scavenging capacity. Studies on 53 honeys show that New Zealand manuka, grey ironbark, and river red gum honeys exhibit the greatest antioxidant capacity.

The osmotic action of sugar combined with hydrogen peroxide and bee-derived antibacterial peptide Defensin-1 is crucial for the antibiofilm activity of eucalyptus honey

Adrian Proano et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the antibiofilm activity of eucalyptus honey against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, finding that it efficiently inhibited biofilm formation and removed preformed biofilms. The activity appeared to be related to the presence of hydrogen peroxide and Def-1.

Physicochemical characteristics and antiproliferative and antioxidant activities of Moroccan Zantaz honey rich in methyl syringate

Youssef Elamine et al.

Summary: Zantaz honey is a monofloral variety with a high content of polyphenols, especially in methyl syringate, accounting for over 50% of total polyphenols. This honey exhibits antioxidant and antiproliferative activities, mainly correlated with the content of methyl syringate and gallic acid. The recognition of health promoting activities in Zantaz honey is expected to increase its commercial value and positively impact the rural communities in Morocco where it is produced.
