Fruit quality and DNA methylation are affected by parental order in reciprocal crosses of tomato

Magali Diana Gimenez et al.

Summary: Reciprocal effects were found between tomato fruit quality and DNA methylation, indicating potential involvement of DNA methylation in parent-of-origin effects. Phenotypic differences were detected in the reciprocal hybrids, with the highest number of traits showing reciprocal effects in crosses between recombinant inbred lines.

How has the consistency of the Common catalogue of varieties of vegetable species changed in the last ten years?

Pietro Santamaria et al.

Summary: In EU countries, only distinct, stable, and uniform plant varieties with appropriate value for cultivation or use are marketed. The Netherlands is the most important country holding the highest number of vegetable varieties. Over the past decade, the number of hybrid varieties has increased while common varieties have remained stable.
