TheArabidopsisphosphatase PP2C49 negatively regulates salt tolerance through inhibition of AtHKT1;1

Moli Chu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that PP2C49 negatively regulates the activity of AtHKT1;1 during salt stress, determining the systemic Na(+) allocation by interacting with AtHKT1;1 and inhibiting its Na(+) permeability.

Regulation of cytoskeleton-associated protein activities: Linking cellular signals to plant cytoskeletal function

Na Lian et al.

Summary: The plant cytoskeleton undergoes dynamic remodeling in response to developmental and environmental cues, with microtubule-associated proteins and actin-binding proteins playing key roles in modulating cytoskeletal behavior. The activities and levels of MAPs and ABPs are precisely regulated during development and environmental responses, but our understanding of this process remains limited.

Cell wall β-1,4-galactan regulated by the BPC1/BPC2-GALS1 module aggravates salt sensitivity in Arabidopsis thaliana

Jingwei Yan et al.

Summary: Salinity stress increases the accumulation of beta-1,4-galactan in plant cell walls, contributing to salt hypersensitivity. The transcription factors BPC1/BPC2 positively regulate plant salt tolerance by repressing GALS1 expression and beta-1,4-galactan accumulation. Genetically, GALS1 is epistatic to BPC1/BPC2 in controlling salt sensitivity and beta-1,4-galactan levels.

Abscisic acid regulates secondary cell-wall formation and lignin deposition in Arabidopsis thaliana through phosphorylation of NST1

Chang Liu et al.

Summary: This study reveals that SnRK2 kinases regulate the thickness and lignification of secondary cell walls in Arabidopsis by phosphorylating the NST1 transcription factor. Loss of NST1 function leads to a lack of SCWs in the stem, indicating the importance of NST1 in SCW formation.
