Toxicokinetics of methylmercury in diabetic KK-Ay mice and C57BL/6 mice

Megumi Yamamoto et al.

Summary: KK-Ay type 2 diabetic mice showed faster absorption and elimination of MeHg, with lower terminal elimination half-life. MeHg was more rapidly absorbed and eliminated from blood cells, brain, liver, kidney, and pancreas of KK-Ay mice under the experimental conditions. Differences in tissue-to-plasma and tissue-to-whole blood partition coefficients indicate notable differences in MeHg transfer between plasma and blood cells affecting its distribution in tissues of the two mouse strains.

Contribution of DHA diols (19,20-DHDP) produced by cytochrome P450s and soluble epoxide hydrolase to the beneficial effects of DHA supplementation in the brains of rotenone-induced rat models of Parkinson's disease

Ami Oguro et al.

Summary: The study suggests that DHA metabolites, specifically DHDPs generated by P450s and sEH, play an important role in improving rotenone-induced Parkinson's disease. DHA supplementation can improve motor dysfunction in rats and increase the expression of antioxidant genes and Nrf2 protein in the striatum.
