Summary: The study used a Bio-electrochemical system to suppress methanogens, competitors of sulfate-reducing bacteria, and recover higher hydrogen yields. By conducting confirmatory experiments and checking model adequacy, the maximum hydrogen production and carbon chain elongation were successfully predicted.
