Disorders of gut-brain interaction common among outpatients with eating disorders including avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder

Helen Burton Murray et al.

Summary: Research found a significant overlap between DGBI and eating disorders in outpatient populations, particularly post-prandial distress symptoms. Patients with ARFID had less frequency of DGBI compared to eating disorders associated with shape or weight concerns, and the presence of DGBI in ARFID patients was associated with certain prototypes. Further research is needed to explore the relationship between gastrointestinal symptoms and severity of ED pathology, including ARFID.
