AXL is a candidate receptor for SARS-CoV-2 that promotes infection of pulmonary and bronchial epithelial cells

Shuai Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that AXL may serve as a novel receptor for SARS-CoV-2, playing an important role in promoting viral infection of the human respiratory system. AXL expression level is closely correlated with SARS-CoV-2 S level and could be a potential target for future clinical intervention strategies.

Systemic microvascular endothelial dysfunction and disease severity in COVID-19 patients: Evaluation by laser Doppler perfusion monitoring and cytokine/chemokine analysis

Leticia Sabioni et al.

Summary: Microvascular dysfunction and serum cytokines may play important roles in the pathophysiology of COVID-19, especially in severe cases. Non-invasive evaluation revealed increased microvascular flow in S-COVID patients, while the microvascular vasodilator response was significantly reduced in both M-COVID and controls compared to healthy individuals.
