Velocity-Based Path Following Control for Autonomous Vehicles to Avoid Exceeding Road Friction Limits Using Sliding Mode Method

Zhongchao Liang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a varying speed method to design feasible speeds and accelerations, ensuring that autonomous vehicles do not reach the tire-road friction limits. By introducing control strategies, the proposed controllers achieve speed tracking and path following, and improve the robustness of the controllers.

Impact of regenerative braking torque blend-out characteristics on electrified heavy road vehicle braking performance

Kesavan Valis Subramaniyam et al.

Summary: This study focuses on developing various cooperative braking strategies for electrified heavy road vehicles by considering instantaneous braking blend-out and ramp down braking blend-out characteristics. The results show that instantaneous braking blend-out has a larger impact on the vehicle's braking performance, while ramp down braking blend-out can improve braking performance by reducing momentary magnitude changes. The study suggests that ramp down braking blend-out can improve vehicle dynamic performance during active braking control.
