Long non-coding RNA Lnc-LALC facilitates colorectal cancer liver metastasis via epigenetically silencing LZTS1

Chuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Colorectal cancer is a common cancer worldwide, with liver metastasis being a key factor affecting prognosis. A study revealed that Lnc-LALC can regulate CRC cell metastasis ability by affecting DNA methylation status, highlighting its important role in CRLM.

De novo DNA methyltransferase activity in colorectal cancer is directed towards H3K36me3 marked CpG islands

Roza H. Ali Masalmeh et al.

Summary: Aberrant gain of DNA methylation at CpG islands is frequently observed in colorectal tumours, which may silence tumour suppressors like MLH1. By studying ectopically integrated CpG islands in colorectal cancer cells, researchers found that these abnormally methylated CpG islands exhibit low levels of de novo DNA methylation, with the de novo DNA methylation activity primarily targeting CpG islands marked by the histone modification H3K36me3.
