Raman and infrared spectroscopic quantification of the carbonate concentration in K2CO3 aqueous solutions with water as an internal standard

Summary: Carbonate-bearing fluids are commonly found in various geological settings and are crucial in transporting elements like rare earth elements. Spectroscopic methods such as Raman spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy show promise in quantifying carbonate concentrations in fluid inclusions, despite technical challenges. Calibration experiments using Raman and infrared spectra can potentially provide accurate quantification of carbonate concentrations and reveal the influence of K2CO3 concentration on the physical and chemical properties of the fluids.

Surface catalyzed hydrolysis of chloramphenicol by montmorillonite under limited surface moisture conditions

Summary: The study found that cation-exchanged montmorillonites with Fe3+ and Al3+showed high catalytic activities for the hydrolysis of chloramphenicol under different moisture conditions.The surface Bronsted- and Lewis-acid properties were sensitive to surface wetting, influencing the hydrolysis reactions. Montmorillonites were effective in the abiotic transformation of antibiotics within a certain range of moisture levels.
