Unflushable or missing toilet paper, the dilemma for developing communities during the COVID-19 episode

Shiyi Sun et al.

Summary: In contrast to developed countries, most public toilets in China do not provide toilet paper and users are required to bring their own. Used toilet paper and tissues are disposed in open waste bins within the user's cubicle, which has led to a dilemma in toilet paper disposal as some municipalities have removed waste bins to prevent virus transmission. The flushability of standard toilet paper has not been clearly determined, posing a challenge in sewer operations.
