Zhi Yu et al.

Summary: The relevance vector machine (RVM) is a powerful machine learning method and a new AI model framework based on RVM has been developed to predict blast-induced ground vibration. The performance comparison shows that the multikernel RVM model outperforms the single-kernel RVM model and empirical equations.

Wengang Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of anisotropic soil parameters on the base stability of deep braced excavations using finite-element analysis and statistical regression analysis. The results show that anisotropy needs to be considered in the design of braced excavations, and XGBoost and RFR models can reasonably predict the factor of safety against basal heave.

Deep neural network and whale optimization algorithm to assess flyrock induced by blasting

Hongquan Guo et al.

Summary: This study developed a deep neural network (DNN) model to predict flyrock induced by blasting, which showed a significant increase in prediction accuracy compared to an artificial neural network (ANN) model. The DNN model, optimized using the whale optimization algorithm (WOA), successfully minimized flyrock resulting from blasting and provided a suitable pattern for blasting operations in mines.

Summary: This study tested the impact of different mixture ratios on backfilling strength in Fankou lead-zinc mine, and found that polypropylene fibers can improve CPB strength, while straw fibers may decrease it in some cases. Using SVM technique with three heuristic algorithms, the SSA-SVM method was recommended for modeling the complexity of interactions in fiber-reinforced CPB and predicting its strength.

Performance Evaluation of Hybrid WOA-SVR and HHO-SVR Models with Various Kernels to Predict Factor of Safety for Circular Failure Slope

Wei Wei et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new hybrid intelligent model for FOS evaluation and analysis of slopes in two different phases: simulation and optimization. In the simulation phase, the radius basis function (RBF) kernel of support vector regression (SVR) shows the most accurate performance prediction for FOS values. In the optimization phase, the proposed SVR model is optimized using the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and Harris hawks optimization (HHO), achieving high FOS values for slopes.
