Optimization of pulsed electric field assisted drying process of black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae

Ivan Shorstkii et al.

Summary: Optimization of important drying parameters with PEF pretreatment was performed on Hermetia illucens larvae tissue. The study used a three-level factorial design of response surface methodology to vary specific PEF energy input and drying temperature. The findings suggest an optimal processing window for larvae drying.

A comprehensive review of recent advances in renewable-based drying technologies for a sustainable future

Canan Acar et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively reviews recent advances in drying technologies and energy consumption, efficiency, and economic performances. The results indicate that refractance window drying technology has the highest sustainability ranking, while superheated steam drying technology has the lowest sustainability ranking. Additionally, novel approaches such as solar-based hybrid drying systems and refractance window drying hold promise as sustainable technologies.

Effects of High Hydrostatic Pressure assisted degreasing on the technological properties of insect powders obtained from Acheta domesticus & Tenebrio molitor

Berkay Bolat et al.

Summary: This study focused on defatting two edible insect species using High Hydrostatic Pressure (HHP) extraction at different temperatures and analyzed the impact on the functional properties of the insect powders. The results showed that temperature increase led to a decrease in protein solubility, but HHP was found to be effective for defatting and improving the functional properties of the powders for potential use as food additives.
