Regional Ground-Motion Simulation Using Recorded Ground Motions

Summary: In this study, a method using recorded ground motions for ground-motion simulation is proposed, which corrects the nearest-station records using the continuous wavelet transform to obtain the ground-motion time history for the target location. An evaluation measure for the accuracy of the predicted ground motion, the response-spectrum error, is introduced and analyzed under different site conditions, distances, and elevation differences. The application conditions for the proposed method are subsequently outlined.
