The study focused on improving the prediction of high-cycle fatigue failure initiation by modifying the predictor to account for biaxial out-of-phase loading, and validated the new model through three biaxial out-of-phase fatigue tests.
The definition of a new predictor of failure initiation in high-cycle fatigue, previously calibrated for aluminum alloys on the basis of uniaxial experimental data and tested against biaxial in-phase data, was modified to account for biaxial out-of-phase loading.
