Microstructural and rheological investigation of upcycled metal-organic frameworks stabilized Pickering emulsions

Fabrice Lorignon et al.

Summary: This study focused on characterizing the microstructural and rheological properties of Pickering emulsions stabilized solely by Al-based MOFs particles. It was found that MIL-96(Al) efficiently stabilized paraffin-in-water emulsions and the behavior of excess particles in the continuous phase interacting with particles at the interface affected the flow properties of the emulsions. Further investigation into this behavior could be interesting for other MOF-stabilized emulsions.

In situ decoration of Ag nanoparticles on hierarchical TiO2 nanowire nanofibers with enhanced catalytic activity used for the removal of 4-nitrophenol

Song Chen et al.

Summary: Hierarchical TiO2@Ag nanowire nanofibers were successfully synthesized and showed high catalytic activity for the removal of 4-nitrophenol, with a 3.2-fold increase in efficiency under visible light irradiation. The unique microstructure of TiO2@Ag NW NFs contributes to their visible light-enhanced catalytic properties.

Evaluation of the repartition of the particles in Pickering emulsions in relation with their rheological properties

Santiago F. Velandia et al.

Summary: The study shows that particles play a significant role in the rheological behavior of Pickering emulsions, supporting the existence of a three-dimensional network between droplets. The applied percolation method can quantitatively estimate a viscoelastic link between particles, which significantly affects the viscosity and elastic modulus of the emulsions, contrary to the traditional view of interfacial monolayers stabilizing Pickering emulsions.
