Early experience with C3DO has shown a high decannulation success rate in patients with Treacher Collins syndrome and craniofacial microsomia. For tracheostomy-dependent patients with clockwise rotational deformity of the subcranial facial skeleton, C3DO has become the authors' preferred operation over mandibular distraction at age 7 or older.
The authors' early experience with C3DO has yielded a high success rate of decannulation in patients with Treacher Collins syndrome and craniofacial microsomia. For patients who are tracheostomy-dependent and have a clockwise rotational deformity of the subcranial facial skeleton, C3DO has become the authors' operation of choice over mandibular distraction at a recommended age of 7 years or older.
