Physical, optical and gamma radiation shielding competence of newly boro-tellurite based glasses: TeO2-B2O3-ZnO-Li2O3-Bi2O3

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: In this study, a traditional melt quenching method was used to synthesize a series of boron tellurite glass samples, with optical properties such as refractive index, molar polarizability, and static dielectric constant calculated based on absorption measurements of the samples. The addition of TeO2 was found to enhance the shielding properties of the glass systems, with the sample containing 80 mol% TeO2 showing the highest attenuation among the samples.

X-ray shielding characteristics of P2O5-Nb2O5 glass doped with Bi2O3 by using EPICS2017 and Phy-X/PSD

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: The paper studied the radiation shielding properties of different glass systems with varying Bi2O3 content and concluded that PNbBi4 showed the best performance. Increasing glass density led to improved shielding properties, and the addition of Bi2O3 resulted in better radiation attenuation characteristics. The effective atomic numbers varied with Bi2O3 content and photon energy levels, showing a decreasing trend with photon energy increase. The study also found good agreement between the results of different libraries for shielding properties evaluation.

Radiation shielding characterizations and investigation of TeO2-WO3-Bi2O3 and TeO2-WO3-PbO glasses

Aljawhara H. Almuqrin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the radiation shielding properties of TeO2-WO3-RO systems, specifically TeO2-WO3-Bi2O3 and TeO2-WO3-PbO glasses, using theoretical analysis and simulations. Different glasses showed varying performance in terms of linear attenuation coefficient, mass attenuation coefficient, and effective atomic number at different energy levels. TeO2-WO3-Bi2O3 glasses exhibited superior radiation shielding effectiveness in some aspects compared to TeO2-WO3-PbO glasses.

Optical and radiation shielding features for a new series of borate glass samples

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: By exploring a series of borate glass samples for their durability and optical parameters, it was found that sample S2 exhibited the highest durability and a good correlation with optical features. The radiation shielding properties of the glass samples were also investigated, with sample S5 showing the best shielding properties for gamma and proton radiation, while sample S1 provided the highest neutron shielding features.
