Randomized Trial of Empagliflozin in Nondiabetic Patients With Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction

Carlos G. Santos-Gallego et al.

Summary: This study found that empagliflozin significantly improved left ventricular function and volumes, functional capacity, and quality of life in nondiabetic HFrEF patients, compared to placebo. The observations strongly support the role of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors in the treatment of HFrEF patients regardless of their glycemic status.

An aetiology-based subanalysis of the Telerehabilitation in Heart Failure Patients (TELEREH-HF) trial

Dominika Szalewska et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the benefits of a 9 week hybrid comprehensive telerehabilitation program in heart failure patients according to aetiology. The study found that there were no significant differences in the outcomes between ischemic and non-ischemic heart failure patients after the intervention. Additionally, changes in clinical and functional statuses did not differ by aetiology.
