Measuring Magnetization with Rotation Measures and Velocity Centroids in Supersonic MHD Turbulence

Summary: Interstellar turbulence is magnetized and anisotropic. By selectively sampling low-density regions in highly supersonic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence, the anisotropy of rotation measures (RMs) and velocity centroids (VCs) can be measured to provide valuable information on the magnetic fields. This new method offers a way to measure plane-of-the-sky magnetic fields in cold interstellar phases.

Measuring Turbulence with Young Stars in the Orion Complex

Summary: The study reveals that the motion of young stars in the Orion Complex exhibits strong turbulent characteristics, while dense star clusters have lost their initial turbulent kinematics. Individual star groups show evidence of local energy injection from supernovae, and the strength of turbulence depends on the location relative to supernova epicenters and the formation history of the groups. The detection of turbulence traced by young stars introduces a new method for probing the turbulent kinematics of the interstellar medium.
