Highly ordered magnetic fields in the tail of the jellyfish galaxy JO206

Ancla Muller et al.

Summary: Observations of the jellyfish galaxy JO206 reveal an ordered, large-scale magnetic field and extremely high polarization, which can be explained by the accretion of magnetized plasma from the intergalactic medium that condenses onto the external layers of the tail.

Growth and structure of multiphase gas in the cloud-crushing problem with cooling

Vijit Kanjilal et al.

Summary: This study revisits the growth of dense/cold gas in a cloud-crushing setup with radiative cooling, demonstrating that efficient radiative cooling of mixed gas can lead to continuous growth of dense clouds. The thresholds for growth based on cooling time of mixed gas differ from those based on cooling time of hot gas, with simulations supporting the former threshold. It is suggested that simulations should be run long enough to allow for late-time growth of dense gas due to cooling of mixed gas, while ensuring the gas is not lost through boundaries.

GASP. XXXII. Measuring the Diffuse Ionized Gas Fraction in Ram-pressure-stripped Galaxies

Neven Tomicic et al.

Summary: The study reveals that diffuse ionized gas is a crucial component of the interstellar medium, influencing ionization and star formation in galaxies. The contribution of DIG varies among different galaxies. It is not possible to differentiate regions dominated by DIG and non-DIG emission based on a single parameter.

GASP XXIX - unwinding the arms of spiral galaxies via ram-pressure stripping

Callum Bellhouse et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of ram pressure on unwinding the spiral arms of cluster galaxies, finding that stripped galaxies show an increase in arm pitch angle and younger stars in the unwound component. The comparison with control group and simulations suggests a combination of face-on and edge-on unwinding effects occurring during stripping process with different inclinations to the intracluster medium.
