Dietary taurine supplementation a ff ects lipid metabolism and improves the oxidative status of European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) juveniles

Nicole Martins et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that dietary taurine levels affect intermediary metabolism, particularly carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and improve the antioxidant status of European seabass juveniles. Additionally, while CDO expression was detected, European seabass seems unable to regulate its activity, supporting the essentiality of taurine for this species.

A comparison of growth and taurine retention between plant and animal protein-based diets in juvenile white seabass Atractoscion nobilis

Robert P. Davis et al.

Summary: The results of the study showed that the protein source did not affect taurine requirement, but growth performance of white seabass fed soy-based diets was lower, indicating that taurine deficiency is not the main driver of this and other factors should be further investigated.
