Demand response model based on improved Pareto optimum considering seasonal electricity prices for Dongfushan Island

Xiaomin Wu et al.

Summary: An improved optimization model for demand response in a remote off-grid microgrid in Dongfushan Island, China is proposed in this study. The model considers different electricity prices under different seasonal meteorological conditions, aiming to develop energy dispatch and economic benefits. By using an improved Pareto optimum and distributed learning algorithm, the model maximizes satisfaction, reduces electricity bills for consumers, and increases profits for retailers. Simulation results show that the proposed method can lower electricity bills for consumers and help retailers save on generation costs and increase renewable energy utilization.

Real-time energy purchase optimization for a storage-integrated photovoltaic system by deep reinforcement learning

Waldemar Kolodziejczyk et al.

Summary: The objective of this article is to minimize the cost of energy purchased on a real-time basis for a storage-integrated photovoltaic system in a microgrid. A reinforcement learning approach is proposed to deal with non-linear storage characteristics and uncertainties in solar energy generation, demands, and market prices. The Q-learning algorithm with a deep neural network is used to learn an optimal decision policy, showing improvements in learning speed and stability compared to rule-based heuristics.

Impacts of demand response from buildings and centralized thermal energy storage on district heating systems

Dmytro Romanchenko et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the potential for increasing indoor temperature is mainly concentrated in multi-family and non-residential buildings, while the potential for temperature downregulation is mainly utilized by single-family buildings; the value of demand response diminishes in the presence of supply-side thermal energy storage; and the application of both demand-side flexibility and centralized thermal energy storage is complementary in achieving the lowest total space heating load of buildings and the lowest running cost for district heating systems.

Summary: The study introduces a novel top-N interactive recommender system based on deep reinforcement learning, where recommendation processes are viewed as Markov decision processes and optimized through reinforcement learning to maximize long-term recommendation accuracy. Experimental results show that the model outperforms previous top-N methods in long-term recommendation accuracy and can be applied in both cold-start and warm-start scenarios.
