Neurocomputational mechanisms of prior-informed perceptual decision-making in humans

Simon P. Kelly et al.

Summary: Kelly, Corbett, and O'Connell utilize neurally informed modeling to show that humans adjust multiple distinct components of a build-to-threshold process in order to account for time constraints and prior probabilities in their perceptual decisions. This flexible adaptation of decision-process parameters is difficult to establish using simplified behavior-based models alone. Neurally informed model outcomes were supported by independent neural decision signal observations, highlighting the potential for strategic adjustment of decision-process parameters with the help of neurophysiological measurements.
