Cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric manifestations of neurobrucellosis

Ahmed Esmael et al.

Summary: Patients with neurobrucellosis exhibit cognitive impairment and more psychiatric symptoms, such as behavioral changes, anxiety, and depression, compared to those with non-neurobrucellosis. It is important to consider the diagnosis and treatment of neurobrucellosis in patients with neuropsychiatric manifestations.

Predictive Metagenomic Analysis of Autoimmune Disease Identifies Robust Autoimmunity and Disease Specific Microbial Signatures

Angelina Volkova et al.

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive re-analysis of 42 studies on the gut microbiome in autoimmune diseases, identifying microbial signatures predictive of multiple sclerosis (MS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and general autoimmune disease. XGBoost and random forest machine learning algorithms were found to be the most effective in handling sparse multidimensional data, consistently producing the best results in identifying dysregulated taxa in a general autoimmune disease model.

Clostridium bolteae is elevated in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder in India and shares sequence similarity with AQP4

Lekha Pandit et al.

Summary: This study revealed elevated levels of C bolteae associated with AQP4+ NMOSD among Indian patients, suggesting a possible causal relationship with the immunopathogenesis of the disease. Presence of C bolteae correlated with expression of inflammatory genes associated with innate and adaptive immunities, specifically involved in plasma cell differentiation, B cell chemotaxis, and Th17 activation.
