Amelioration of salt stress tolerance in rapeseed (Brassica napus) cultivars by seed inoculation with Arthrobacter globiformis

Panaiotis M. Stassinos et al.

Summary: Salt stress is a major abiotic stress affecting plants worldwide. This study focused on the effects of a halotolerant strain called Arthrobacter globiformis on salt stress response in Brassica napus. The results showed that inoculated plants exhibited better stress response in the seedling phase under high salinity, with increased phenolic compounds, PAL and SOD enzyme activities, and proline concentration. A. globiformis was proven to be a promising plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) strain for mitigating salt stress.
