Patterns in macroinvertebrate taxonomic richness and community assembly among urban wetlands in Cape Town, South Africa: implications for wetland management

Charl Deacon et al.

Summary: This study investigated urban wetlands in Cape Town, South Africa, and found that high nutrient loads from surrounding land uses and the transformation of water bodies from seasonal to perennial have negative impacts on biodiversity. The study recommends limiting urban waste entering the systems and managing water levels to simulate natural climate dynamics for maximum biodiversity support in the wetlands.

Relative importance of ecological versus biological traits in driving range sizes of African dragonflies

Summary: Ecological and biological traits interact to shape the geographical ranges of dragonfly species in Africa. Single traits are weak predictors of species range sizes, and investigating multiple traits simultaneously is recommended for more accurate predictions.
