Nickel ion removal from aqueous solutions through the adsorption process: a review

Summary: This review paper organizes information on the removal of nickel ions from aqueous solutions through the adsorption process. Composite- and polymer-based adsorbents are found to be the most effective, with the composite material CaCO3-maltose showing the highest Ni(II) adsorption capacity. The pH-dependent adsorption of nickel ions, the endothermic and spontaneous nature of nickel adsorption, and the importance of regeneration using acidic eluents are discussed in the paper.
