Genomic and sequence variants of protein kinase A regulatory subunit type 1β (PRKAR1B) in patients with adrenocortical disease and Cushing syndrome

Ludivine Drougat et al.

Summary: This study identified three common PRKAR1B gene variants in 74 patients with BAH, and three PRKAR1B copy-number gains in 21 CPAs. CPAs with PRKAR1B copy-number gains showed higher PRKAR1B mRNA levels and reduced PKA activity. The findings suggest that PRKAR1B may play a role in adrenal tumor formation with distinct mechanisms compared to other PKA subunits.
