Wool waste used as sustainable nonwoven for building applications

Chiara Rubino et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the potential conversion of wool waste into new raw materials suitable for building components by exploring the hygrothermal, acoustic and nonacoustic properties of nonwovens made of 100% wool waste fibers thermally bonded with polyester/copolyester bi-component fibers. The results showed that the tested nonwovens may represent a valid alternative for building applications, thus indicating a new research area in the field.

Performance evaluation of concrete with Arabic gum biopolymer

Abdeliazim Mustafa Mohamed et al.

Summary: Arabic gum biopolymer (AGB) has shown great potential as a water-reducing admixture in concrete to enhance its physical and mechanical properties, as well as durability. The addition of AGB significantly improves the compressive strength of concrete, reduces soundness, and enhances resistance to acid attack. X-ray diffraction was used to explain the macroscopic behavior of concrete with AGB. The study suggests a promising future for the use of AGB as an admixture in concrete production.
