Microalgal-Bacterial Synergistic Interactions and Their Potential Influence in Wastewater Treatment: a Review

Summary: Microalgae is a promising raw material for biodiesel production, utilizing N, P, and organic matter in wastewater to grow and reduce the cost of cultivation. The interactions between microalgae and bacteria in water bodies create a complex microecological system that presents challenges in understanding and developing sustainable microalgal-bacterial coculture systems. Further research is needed to explore the mechanisms of communication, algal growth promotion, and impact of microalgae on indigenous bacteria in wastewater for efficient consortium systems.
