Biological activity of selected lichens and lichen-based Ag nanoparticles prepared by a green solid-state mechanochemical approach

Summary: Lichens contain bioactive compounds and their antioxidant and antibacterial effects are widely studied. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using lichen extracts is effective in producing antibacterial agents, but may reduce antioxidant activity. This study compared the processing of two lichen species for AgNPs synthesis and found that while AgNPs increased antibacterial activity, they decreased antioxidant effects.
