Eliciting effect of foliar application of chitosan lactate on the phytochemical properties of Ocimum basilicum L. and Melissa officinalis L.

Barbara Hawrylak-Nowak et al.

Summary: The study showed that the foliar spray of chitosan lactate can enhance the accumulation of certain important compounds in herbal plants. For basil, a concentration of 100 mg/L of ChL increased the content of rosmarinic acid, while for lemon balm, both 100 mg/L and 500 mg/L of ChL increased the accumulation of certain phenolics and anthocyanins.
