Analysis of intravenous sedation for dental treatment in elderly patients with severe dementia-a retrospective cohort study of a Japanese population

Hitomi Nishizaki et al.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of intravenous sedation among different sedatives in elderly patients with severe dementia undergoing dental treatment. Results showed that DEX group required longer sedation and permission time to return home compared to MID and PRO groups. Lower heart rate was observed in DEX group. All sedatives had respiratory-related complications, highlighting the need for close monitoring.
