A computational framework for propagated waves in a sandwich doubly curved nanocomposite panel

M. S. H. Al-Furjan et al.

Summary: In this study, the characteristics of propagated waves in a sandwich structure with a soft core and multi-hybrid nanocomposite face sheets were investigated. The study found that the sensitivity of the phase velocity of the sandwich panel to carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and different face sheet patterns can decrease when the core of the panel is thicker. It was also observed that the effects of fiber angle and core to total thickness ratio on the phase velocity are independent of the wavenumber.

A comprehensive computational approach for nonlinear thermal instability of the electrically FG-GPLRC disk based on GDQ method

M. S. H. Al-Furjan et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the buckling temperature and post-buckling analysis of a functionally graded graphene nanoplatelet-reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) disk surrounded by a nonlinear elastic foundation and covered with a piezoelectric actuator. The results demonstrate the significant impact of various factors such as radius ratio, GPLs parameters, elastic foundation, applied voltage, and piezoelectric thickness on the thermal post-buckling response of the FG-GPLRC disk. Additionally, the presence of the elastic foundation appears to induce a sinusoidal effect on the post-buckling behavior of the disk.

Third-order electro-elastic analysis of sandwich doubly curved piezoelectric micro shells

Mohammad Arefi

Summary: This paper investigates the size dependent electro-elastic analysis of sandwich doubly curved piezoelectric micro shells, presenting analytical results in terms of important parameters such as micro length scale parameter and applied electric potential. The numerical results suggest that the in-plane deformation and out of plane displacement decrease with an increase in the micro length scale parameter and a decrease in the applied electric potential.

Application of exact continuum size-dependent theory for stability and frequency analysis of a curved cantilevered microtubule by considering viscoelastic properties

Ali Shariati et al.

Summary: The stability of cantilevered curved microtubules in axons with various size elements was analyzed using the generalized differential quadrature method. The use of a modified couple stress theory with a length scale factor resulted in more accurate results compared to alternative theories. The frequency response of the microtubules was found to increase with a rise in size-dependent factor and changes in the structure's natural frequency in relation to the time-based viscoelastic factor.

On the flutter of matrix cracked laminated composite plates reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets

Hulun Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigates graphene nanoplatelets reinforced composite with matrix cracks using element-free IMLS-Ritz method. The analysis includes determining the effective Young's modulus of each layer, predicting Poisson's ratio and mass density, and modeling the degraded stiffness of cracked layers. The study also examines the accuracy of the results and conducts a comprehensive parametric study on the effects of matrix crack density, distribution pattern, and other factors on the flutter bound of the plates.
