Seven Challenges for the Dehumanization Hypothesis

Harriet Over

Summary: The author challenges the dehumanization hypothesis by arguing that out-group members are not treated as nonhuman entities even in extreme cases, and they are attributed some human qualities. Additionally, the author questions the causal connection between being viewed as less than human and being at risk of harm, suggesting that some nonhuman organisms are treated well and some groups are harmed due to their uniquely human qualities.
