Aptamer-17β-estradiol-antibody sandwich ELISA for determination of gynecological endocrine function

Summary: The performance of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for quantification of 17 β-Estradiol-E2 was enhanced by using a gold nanoparticle-conjugated aptamer, with a low detection limit and specificity. The experiment showed that spiking of 17 beta-E2 in human serum did not interfere with the detection, indicating that the developed ELISA can be used as an alternate assay for evaluating endocrine-related gynecological problems.

Summary: A colorimetric aptasensor was developed for selective and sensitive detection of Salmonella typhimurium, utilizing dual aptamers modified bovine serum albumin stabilized-gold nanoclusters. The aptasensor showed a wide linear response to S. typhimurium with a low detection limit, and was successfully applied for detection in egg samples.

Selection and characterization of structure-switching DNA aptamers for the salivary peptide histatin 3

Summary: This study reported single-stranded DNA aptamers that undergo structural conformational changes upon binding to salivary peptide histatin 3 for the first time. Through the SELEX process, four unique aptamer candidates with binding affinity and specificity to histatin 3 were identified. The best performing candidate exhibited an equilibrium dissociation constant (K-d) value of 1.97 +/- 0.48 mu M, showing potential for refined sensing assays for the detection and quantification of histatin 3 in biological media.

Summary: This study developed a detection platform utilizing the properties of gold nanoparticles and graphene oxide to detect E. coli cells through aptamer conjugation. The sensitivity of the designed nanoprobe was enhanced by covering AuNPs with graphene oxide. This platform was found to be applicable in glass capillary for making a point of care detection device.
