Untargeted Urinary Metabolomics and Children's Exposure to Secondhand Smoke: The Influence of Individual Differences

Huiwei Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in urinary metabolites in preschool children exposed to secondhand smoke (SHS) through cross-sectional and longitudinal metabolomics analyses. The research identified 43 metabolites associated with SHS exposure in children and highlighted the impact of individual differences on these changes. The findings provide new insights into the pathophysiological mechanisms of SHS and demonstrate the influence of individual variability on SHS-induced alterations in urinary metabolites in children.
