Optimal Control and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of an HPV-Chlamydia trachomatis Co-infection Model

A. Omame et al.

Summary: The study found that targeting interventions for either HPV or Chlamydia trachomatis alone will have a positive impact on the other infection, but combining and implementing prevention controls for both HPV and Chlamydia trachomatis is the most cost-effective and effective strategy for combating co-infections.

Analysis of COVID-19 and comorbidity co-infection model with optimal control

Andrew Omame et al.

Summary: The study developed and analyzed a mathematical model for the dynamics of COVID-19 with re-infection to assess the impact of comorbidity (specifically, diabetes mellitus) on COVID-19 complications. Simulation results showed a reduction in infection peaks with decreasing reinfection rates. Optimal control and cost-effectiveness analysis indicated that preventing COVID-19 infection among comorbid susceptibles is the most cost-effective strategy among all control strategies.

A co-infection model for two-strain Malaria and Cholera with optimal control

K. U. Egeonu et al.

Summary: A mathematical model is developed to assess the impact of malaria drug resistance on treatment controls in a population where two diseases co-exist, showing backward bifurcation and the lack of global asymptotic stability of disease-free equilibrium in the model. Optimal control existence conditions and optimality system are established using Pontryagin's Maximum Principle. Numerical simulations reveal that malaria drug resistance significantly influences the number of co-infection cases averted, even with treatment controls in place.
