A nearly complete specimen of a new species of palinurid lobster, Linuparus qualitus, was discovered in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. The anatomically almost complete specimen includes the cephalothorax, anterior appendages, and most of the pleon, with an antennal stridulating mechanism similar to the extant species L. trigonus.
A nearly complete specimen of palinurid lobster from the Turonian (Late Cretaceous) Kaskapau Formation near Tumbler Ridge, northeastern British Columbia, Canada, documents a new species, Linuparus qualitus. Exposed in ventral aspect, the specimen is anatomically almost complete, including the cephalothorax, anterior appendages, and all but the terminal part of the pleon. The antennal stridulating mechanism, rarely seen in fossil palinurids, is analogous to that present on extant L. trigonus, type species of the genus.
