Development of a completely recyclable glass fiber-reinforced epoxy thermoset composite

Matthieu Lejeail et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the potential to design recyclable epoxy-based thermoset composite materials by incorporating reversible chemistry for separation and recovery of resin and fibers. By utilizing the Diels-Alder (DA) adducts for cross-linking, the thermoset can be uncross-linked using reverse DA reactions, allowing for resin and fibers to be recovered and reused without significant property changes, resulting in recycled composites with properties comparable to the original materials.

Self-Healing Epoxy and Reversible Diels-Alder Based Interpenetrating Networks

Beata Strachota et al.

Summary: Dual networks with thermoreversible Diels-Alder (DA) network and epoxy network are studied as self-healing thermoset materials, where interpenetrating networks (IPN) with a high content of DA network show a healing efficiency approaching 100%. Factors governing healing efficiency, such as the fraction of sol generated at healing, are determined and analyzed.
