Lindgrenite microstructures were obtained through different synthesis methods, exhibiting good optical properties and thermal stability, showing promising antifungal performance against Candida albicans and Trichophyton rubrum.
In this work, lindgrenite [Cu-3(MoO4)(2)(OH)(2)] microstructures were obtained by the coprecipitation and ultrasound-assisted coprecipitation methods at different irradiation times, 10, 20, and 30 min. According to Raman's active modes and infrared spectroscopies, the X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed the synthesized samples' monoclinic structure. The optical band gap (E-gap) values of the samples varied from 2.3 to 2.5 eV, whereas the photoluminescence (PL) spectra showed some differences. Moreover, lindgrenite is thermally stable up to 270 degrees C, as seen in the thermogravimetric study. These materials were submitted to an antifungal property study. All samples' fungal properties were evaluated against Candida albicans strain, where the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) values were 25.6-52.6 times higher than the Amphotericin B positive control. While against Trichophyton rubrum strain, the MIC values were 3.2-105.26 times higher than the Ketoconazole positive control. The Minimum Fungal Concentration (MFC) values for C. albicans and T. rubrum were 0.039-0.078 mu gmL(-1) and 0.039-1.25 mu gmL(-1), respectively. Therefore, these results suggest that all prepared lindgrenite are promissory material in the fungal control of C. albicans and T. rubrum.
