A new polyoxometalate-based compound with helical and porous structural features was synthesized and investigated for its luminescent properties in the solid state at room temperature. The enhanced luminescent property of this compound is attributed to an internal heavy metal effect.
A new polyoxometalate (POM)-based compound, (H3O)(2)[Cu-3(II)(btb)(6)][H4W12O40](2)center dot 2H(2)O (btb = 1,4-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butane) was hydrothermally synthesized, and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR spectrum, thermogravimetry analysis, powder X-Ray diffraction and single X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is an unusual example of POM-based hybrid that consists of both helical and porous structural features. Moreover, luminescent property of compound 1 is investigated in the solid state at room temperature. In contrast to free btpe ligand, compound 1 exhibits an enhanced luminescent property, attributed to an internal heavy metal effect. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
