Summary: Testing staphylococci other than Staphylococcus aureus (SOSA) for mecA-mediated resistance can be challenging, as shown in the study where no individual phenotypic test correlated well with PCR results across all species. Molecular testing for mecA or evaluation for PBP2a is recommended as the preferred approach for accurate results.
